Guide
Airbnb Turnover Cleaning Guide for Detroit-Area Hosts
A turnover is a timed reset between guests, not a leisurely deep clean. Here is how Detroit-area hosts can scope the work, the linens, and the clock.

A turnover is a reset on a clock
Guests leave. The next ones have a check-in time. The kitchen, baths, floors, and beds have to be ready, and the trash has to be out. That is a turnover. It is not the moment to start a project you have been postponing, and it is not the same visit as an empty move-out clean for a departing tenant.
We clean short-term rentals across Metro Detroit: downtown and neighborhood flats in Detroit, houses in Ferndale and Royal Oak, and places in Birmingham that fill up when something is happening downtown. The written scope is per property. A studio and a five-bedroom house do not share a checklist just because both are on a listing site.
We clean. We do not price the stay, answer guest messages, or shop for coffee. If you want a short set of photos after the clean, that can be a line on the quote. We do not post guest photos anywhere.
Kitchen, bathrooms, and floors
Start in the kitchen because it is where a guest decides the place is fine or not. Wipe counters and the table, clean the sink, run or stack dishes if the scope says so, and check the microwave for splatters. Look inside the fridge for leftovers. A turnover is not automatically an inside-the-oven deep clean. If you want the oven every turnover, or only once a month, write that down. Guessing helps nobody at 11am.
Bathrooms get a full reset: toilet, tub or shower, sink, mirror, and the floor. Hair is the thing guests photograph. Trash goes out, and the liner gets replaced if you leave liners. Floors are vacuumed and hard floors are mopped, including under the edge of the bed if the bed is light enough to reach.
- Counters, sink, table, and appliance fronts
- Dishes run or stacked, as the scope specifies
- Leftovers removed from the fridge
- Bathroom fully reset, including the shower and mirror
- Floors vacuumed and mopped, trash out
- A walk-through for items a guest left behind, bagged for you
Linens, laundry, and the supplies you leave
Beds are stripped and remade when fresh linens are in the unit. Laundry happens when the washer and dryer are in the unit and the timeline allows a cycle. If the next check-in is too soon for dry sheets, we will say so rather than leave damp linens on the bed. A second set of sheets, stored where we can find them, is the practical fix.
We do not provide soap, coffee, or paper goods. Guest supplies get set out only from stock you leave on site. Label the bin. A turnover crew should not have to hunt through an owner's closet for the coffee pods. Tell us the par level you care about: towels on the rack, paper on the holder, soap on the sink. If the stock is out, we cannot invent it.
Lost items get bagged and left where you ask, usually a closet shelf. We do not mail them to guests and we do not throw away something that looks like a phone, jewelry, or medication. Ordinary trash is trash.
Checkout times and our hours
Tell us the checkout time and the next check-in. A same-day flip only works when the gap is long enough for the size of the place. A studio after a careful guest is not a house after a week-long stay. We would rather turn down a window than leave you with a wet floor and a guest on the porch.
Published hours are Sunday through Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to noon. Saturday is closed. A Saturday turnover needs a Friday or Sunday plan. We do not run an overnight desk, and we do not pretend otherwise. If your listing promises an early Saturday check-in, the clean has to happen Friday, or you need a different plan for that night.
Keys, lockboxes, and smart locks belong in the quote notes. So does parking, especially in dense Detroit neighborhoods where a driveway is the whole logistics plan. We confirm entry before the first turnover and lock up the way the property requires.
Local rules are yours to confirm
Detroit and some suburbs regulate short-term rentals. The rules change, and they are not the same in every city on this site. Confirm the current requirement with the city before you host. We will not summarize a permit, a tax, or a cap on this page, because a wrong sentence would be worse than none.
Neighbors notice trash day, parking, and noise. None of that is a cleaning task, but a tidy entry and a bin that is actually at the curb on the right day keep a listing quieter. If the city or the association has a rule about carts, put it in the scope so the crew is not guessing.
Damage a guest caused, a broken lamp, a stained mattress, is not something we repair in the middle of a turnover. We can clean around it and tell you. Repair stays with you.
Between bookings, and when a deeper clean fits
A vacant week is a good time for the tasks a 3-hour turnover cannot hold: inside the oven, baseboards, interior glass, and the shelf guests never see. That can be a recurring deep pass on a monthly rhythm, separate from the turnover. Keep the two scopes separate so a rushed checkout does not become an unfinished project.
Winter in Metro Detroit shows up as salt in the entry and wet boots. Summer shows up as grass and a fuller fridge. Mention the season when you book the first month. The quote can say what is standard every turnover and what is occasional.

Questions
Can you turn a rental over on Saturday?
No. Saturday is closed. Plan the clean for Friday or Sunday, inside Sunday through Thursday 9am to 5pm or Friday 9am to noon.
Do you bring toiletries and coffee?
No. We set out supplies you leave on site. We do not shop for the listing and we do not mark up a catalog of guest amenities.
Will you wash the linens?
When the washer and dryer are in the unit and there is time for a full cycle before check-in. If the gap is too short, we will say so. A spare set of sheets in the closet is the reliable backup.
Do you handle permits or guest messages?
No. Confirm short-term rental rules with the city. We clean to a written scope. Messages, pricing, and repairs stay with the host.
